Francis X. Moriarty, Ed.D.
Dr. Moriarty is a licensed psychologist with over two decades of experience treating children, adults, and families in a range of educational and mental health settings. His clinical expertise is primarily focused on the treatment of Anxiety Disorder, OCD, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He has a sub-specialty in working with children and families struggling with grief, loss, stress and other related challenges associated with attachment. Dr. Moriarty specializes in evidence based treatment. He has completed advanced training in Rational Emotive and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy at the Albert Ellis Institute in NYC. He has also completed advanced training at the Behavioral Therapy Training Institute. He has advanced training and experience in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as well as prolonged exposure therapies for the treatment of trauma. He has trained and clinically supervised Doctoral and Masters level clinicians in both inpatient and outpatient settings throughout his career.
Dr. Moriarty has designed therapeutic programs focusing on addiction, anxiety disorders, PTSD and intergenerational trauma. He served as the Clinical Director at Mountain Valley Treatment Center for severe anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder, the Bennington School, is the co-founder and President of Great Expectations Educational Resources and the founder and chief executive officer of the Manchester Village School: manchestervillageschool.org.
He is a former Professor of Psychology at Springfield College and Adjunct Professor of Clinical Psychology at American International College. Dr. Moriarty has published empirical research on the value of mindfulness in the helping professions. He is trained in Mindfulness Base Stress Reduction and Vipassana Meditation. Dr. Moriarty is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapists (ACBT), the Anxiety and Depression Disorders Association of America (ADAA), the International Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Foundation (IOCDF) and the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association (EMDRIA). Dr. Moriarty is a graduate of Bridgewater State University. He received his EdD from American International College and was a post doctoral fellow in neuropsychology at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. His private practice is located in Manchester, VT.
